The simple joys
-
There is something immensely satisfying about playing around with basic circuitry for simple tasks.
Really and truly, magic happens when your simple design works. All is right with the world.
And when you begin expanding your design and prototyping something more complex, you appreciate the task placed in front of you. You were able to take, and conquer, that first simple step.

Found here on the blog for Everest, an iOS application designed for tracking your experiences, goals, and journey.
Haven't tried out the app, but I like the image and the message.
AndEngine vs Corona SDK vs Unity 3D vs ???
-
I'm currently in the process of making an Android game with a group of friends,
and one of our first hurdles was choosing a game framework / SDK to develop with.
We narrowed our options down pretty quickly to AndEngine (a native set of libraries),
Unity 3D (JavaScript, C#, or Boo - I don't know what Boo is either), and Corona SDK (Lua).
One of the key determining factors was price. Both Corona SDK and Unity 3D
require a yearly charge to publish applications, with price points of both
platforms being $199 and $400, respectively. While neither of these prices
are particularly steep, this licensing is a cause of headache for a team that
is making games for fun.
Use of AndEngine, on the other hand, is free and hopefully semi breezy in familiarity due to it being a set of game dev Java
libraries instead of a new SDK.
I played around with Corona SDK and an IDE for it called Cider (built off of Netbeans), which was pretty cool,
and played around very briefly with Unity (which I instinctively hated because of the drag/drop nature of the development
environment and the emphasis on scripting behaviors).
With that said, to native game development land we go. Cheers to AndEngine.
